What is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit?

It's important we use our intellects to answer most of life's How To questions-how to do this and how to do that. However, when it comes to understanding our relationship with our creator, he has a different way for us.

We want to be like God-and be close to him-but we find it difficult, because we are creatures and not his children. We are like a dog who wants to eat off the table. He tries, but he's still a creature and not like us. So it is with us and God.

We sense our lives were meant to work right with our spirits, souls, and bodies. But somehow something went wrong & they don't work how we expected. Is there any way they can work right?

Real life is full of tenderness and love and kindliness and understanding. It's a monstrosity of life that is filled with bickering, irritability, anger, criticism and conflict. Who can show us how to enter into real life?

We try to live good lives but so often find ourselves saying ?well, nobody is perfect? when we fail. How do we get off the treadmill of trying to retrain our mind, emotions and behavior? Is there an alternative that works?

Are we missing God's realistic plan for our inner life? Is there more than just trying harder?

How many of us are troubled by those inward reactions that no one sees? Outwardly we conform but inwardly we react. Is it possible to live clean from the inside out? Is it possible to have clean hearts that we are not afraid to show anyone?

Are there moments when you know you should speak or do something because you know it's right? But you don't. Is it because you do not care or are you afraid of those around you and what they think of you?

Is there a higher life where we can tackle our problems in rest and peace?

Do you feel and act differently outside yourself to what's inside in a situation? Could you call yourself 'two faced', showing good on outer face but seething with jealousy, impatience or criticism for a person inside?

The Holy Spirit is a person who speaks to our conscience. If we refuse to listen to and obey His voice then we soon become immune to it and grieve him. Obedience brings us into freedom.
