Editorial

by Ernest O'Neill

As Iraq stumbles forward into civil war or imposed democracy, three billion young, intelligent Asians and Africans look out to see if there is any way to marry unselfish business enterprise to a democracy of free, thinking people. Rarely has the West faced such an opportunity to demonstrate before such a vast, eager student-body.

But the power of money to sway the voting of the masses and the concentration of wealth into fewer and fewer monopolies is undermining the past strengths of Western society so that the world seems once again to be a demonstration of what happens without God. Perhaps it will always be the little, unknown Davids that slay a Goliath here and there. Small communities of business-people (like Christian Corps) can still provide a living demonstration to Asia and Africa that life does work and can be orderly under the Creator’s spirit.
